My parenting assessments service involves conducting thorough assessments, including specialist assessments such as ParentAssess and CUBAS. I provide comprehensive insights and recommendations to support children and families.
I speak, read and write Gujarati and Hindi, so families who speak these languages can be assessed in their own language.
What the assessment looks at
- The child’s developmental needs, and how well they are being met now
- Each parent’s capacity to provide safe, consistent and emotionally warm care
- Family history, support networks and the wider environment
- What could change, and over what timescale for the child
Specialist assessments
Where a parent has a learning disability or other additional needs, a standard assessment may not show what they can do with the right support. In these cases I use structured specialist tools such as ParentAssess, so the assessment is fair to the parent and still focused on the child.
What the work usually involves
- Reading the court bundle and background papers
- Interviews with parents, and with relatives where relevant
- Observations of the parent with the child
- Speaking with the professionals involved with the family
- A written report with my analysis and recommendations
